...Aww yes, so it has been a coupla weeks since the crew has boated some gnar. And the Arizona boys were at it again this last weekend. Some new ones where introduced to class v boating and for some others, it was business as usual. A little video was sent in of this mission..so here is a short clip of a close call that would have resulted in a massive beatdown! Safety, saftey....

So Cody Howard has just returned from an "ultimate double header"and is amped. The Middle King's - Upper Cherry Creek was ultimately a success, and we are all looking forward to the story and video, which will be published asap. Congrats to John and Tommy for completely the first single day descent of Middle Kings...a shocking accomplishment. As for new updates, check out our Stories Page, and you will notice "The First Modern Day Descent of ------ Creek" (re-mains unnamed due to legality issues) has been added. Meaning that all the s@#t in there has been run, with 1 drop remaining un-hucked. This is the 2nd Known Descent of the spectacular creek. It is just to bad that it is off limits, because if it wasn't, then it would be world class destination. Enjoy....we sure did!

A lot has happened since the "ultimate double header"....Huckin Huge Team member Cody Howard and the Front Range Freedom Fighters won the EddyFlower Vertical Challenge! So congrats to them with the most vertical feet in the weekend warriors division.... The team also took a "re-visit" to Fossil Creek, AZ and the carnage of back breaking 1st descents continues. There is a couple of surprises for you in this vid so, check it out for yourself!

After chasing rain for 4 weeks straight, Cody finally got on the "goods". Although it was low, and he was solo...this is a great account of the thought process and experience on this long awaited first descent. Check it out, and remember, it better to wait for snow melt.

Filming has begun. Shot in FULL HD, Kayak Session Presents: The Risen Sun, a Huckin Huge Film. We just kicked off the filming with double, back to back epics, flood boating and carnage. Already, with the footage we have aquired, it is giving everyone who peeks at it goosebumps. We aren't kidding. The Risen Sun will document the next year of boating, following the Huckin Huge team and other pro athletes, around the globe on expeditions of all sorts. The name of the film should give you a hint into where we are headed for one the segments. We are proud to have Kayak Session on board as well. And as always, you can follow the making and epics here, at Huckin Huge.com. To kick it all off, The Huckin Huge team dropped into not one, but TWO first descent epics. Already, the buzz about these two descents, is spreading around the boating community...and it doesn't stop here. Cody and Harlan got into Christopher Creek at the highest flows to date. One boat made it out. We'll leave it at that. Check out the video, and stay tuned!! The Risen Sun

First: Check out what else the massive rains brought to the west coast. Pretty sick huh! Unfortunately, HH affiliate, Nathan Hunkapiller, had his car slammed by the surfing too. AND, in the low land's of Arizona, HH Team Members: Cody Howard and Mike Misher, notched one of the last significant first descents left in the area. On top of that they had their car smashed too! The story made Paddling Life E-Zine and the extremely popular blog, Those Responsible. The footage of this epic will be on The Risen Sun, presented by Kayak Session Magazine.

On December 7th 2007, the Huckin Huge team embarked on one of the most anticipated First Descents the Southwest has seen in a while. Two days later they came out with stories of huge falls and drops in a remote granite canyon. Cody Howard, Bret Howard, Mike Fisher, Ryan Fair and Aaron Riding completed the First Descent of the South West's newest steep creek destination. Although only prepared to do in a day, they unfortunately had to spend an extremely cold night under a shelter built of Cacti and Grass. Since this descent, the only thing the boys can talk about is how sick it really was in there. Mike Fisher wrote a story for Kayak Session Magazine and they have featured it on their site. Enjoy the story, pictures and short teaser...the team is itching to get back in there!

Yep. The Huckin Huge Team definitely rallied last weekend. Cody, Mike and Harlan scoured the Southwest for unrun waters. Their research and drive took them to 2 first descents in California and 2 first descents in Arizona. Does this interest you?...how 'bout this picture?...then CLICK HERE and read the story.

With hopes of finding the next "Upper Cherry Creek", the 7 man expedition team carried their boats 9 miles and came out of a massive gorge 3 days later. What occurred in there could never be done justice and one of the most amazing gorges in America is still waiting. Due to one unrunnable fall, the team was forced to portage the whole reason for the trip....The Grotto Pool Gorge. With comments days later like: "Home, Safe, Tired" -ES "F#%k, dude! I drank 4 pills of caffeine and 10 red bulls. Still I had to drive with all windows opened shouting Russian songs as loud as I could not to fall asleep." -Peter Malkin "This will be the holy grail of all Southwestern Kayaking" -Cody Howard "I slept curled up with a burning log in the fire" -Mike Fisher "Thats the freakin' first and last descent" -Cody Howard "Despite being a crazed lunatic, John was actually a very kind and generous man" -Nathan Hunkapiler "Shoot anyone who comes through that door" -Our Drunken Savior (John) This misadventure update includes a couple of photos, a video showing only parts of the adventure and a story written by Nathan Hunkapiller. The crew completed the descent over this President's Day. Although the scenery was outstanding, the whitewater was brutal and sub-par. Enjoy what we can remember and what little media was retrieved from the descent. READ THE STORY HERE
While filming for THE RISEN SUN, Cody led the crew into a roadside, stout run, just outside of Phoenix. This run had numerous hazards and was very steep and continuous at the optimum flows. It was a long shot, but the crew came in battle ready, and the creek gave up the goods. The film and the scenery in the canyon was astonishing, along with some of the botched lines. Cody wrote a trip report and we featured it on CKS' Blog. Check it out...it's a good'en.
Little teaser pic. Not just a band anymore...its a rapid. Five Finger Death Punch. Video still from Kayak Session Presents: The Risen Sun, a Huckin Huge Film. And yes, there was bleeding at the end of this stout alley of falls. CLICK HERE FOR THE STORY / PHOTOS / SLIDESHOW

A forest service helicopter hovered overhead, USGS employees scrambled for a better view, and Cody Howard and Mike Fisher were 1st D'ing the largest drop in the state. This 130+ ft. cascade is one of the most terrifying and picturesque drops the Huckin Huge crew has run during the filming. Faith in their skills, Cody and Mike shook hands and gave it a go. The rest is history. Enjoy the pictures and hold on tight for the upcoming film.

THE BOTTOM HALF SCOUT VIDEO
Here's the sequence of one of the sickest runs to date. From the top, "the doomsday line." We won't spoil what happened, but it is sure to leave you with your jaw on the floor.
Cody running the massive slide. Lookin' for the kicker.

This is the last mission that the film crew did in Arizona. Cody Howard, Mike Fisher and Filip Payne (author) dropped into the canyon and completed the 3rd descent. This run was also the first 'portage-less' descent. HH Team member Harlan Taney fired up the big'en in there earlier this year. Rattlesnake Canyon flows into Woods Canyon (another epic), together they form Dry Beaver Creek. The run is steep and cuts a massive gorge off the Mog. Rim. Problem is, it never sees boatable flows. So all plans were set aside, and it was priority numero uno to get in there! Read the Story here!
